From June, 16-22 in Beijing, China, Ventspils Freeport Authority as a part of Minister of Transport Uldis Augulis delegation was participating in the international exhibition of transport and technology, conference World Transport Convention and the founding of Belt and Road International Transport Alliance (BRITA). Ventspils Freeport signed a memorandum with the structural unit LOGINK of China’s Ministry of Transport.
During the visit in China the Latvian Minister of Transport Uldis Augulis and the representatives of the Ministry, and professionals of the field including Deputy Executive Officer Igors Udodovs, participated in the founding of Belt and Road International Transport Alliance (BRITA). BRITA is a multilateral cooperation format initiated in China which combines the main players of the national transport and logistics sectors involved in the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative. Latvia in BRITA is represented by the Ministry of Transport and eight businesses from Latvia have joined the alliance, including Ventspils Freeport Authority.
During the visit, Ventspils Freeport signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of People’s Republic of China, LOGINK, on cooperation and exchange of experience in transport and logistics.
The aim of the exhibition World Transport Convention is to present the development and achievements of technologies and transport sector as well as to promote the infrastructure’s interoperability of initiative Belt and Road. In Latvian exhibition panel on the cooperation possibilities presented the largest representatives of the transport and logistics industry: Latvian Railway, airport Riga, and ports of Ventspils, Riga and Liepāja with a slogan VIA LATVIA, in which the word “road” symbolises the movement and continued development of the transport industry by offering high-quality transport through the territory of Latvia.
In the international exhibitions, Ventspils Freeport Authority presents the opportunities for cooperation with Ventspils, including the benefits of transporting freight through our port, its terminals, as well as the cooperation with universal loading facilities and the use of the vast industrial area of the port.
