High technology company “HansaMatrix” builds up capacity in Ventspils

Last week, the company HansaMatrix signed a loan contract with the European Investment Bank for the granting of funds in the amount of 10 million euro. This is the first loan to a private company in Latvia, granted within the framework of the European Strategic Investment Fund or so called Junker’s plan. Two thirds of the received loan – more than 6 million euro – are intended to be used for the building of capacity and introduction of new technologies at two companies in Ventspils – HansaMatrix Ventspils and EuroLCDs, which operate in the industrial territory of the Freeport of Ventspils.

Contract for the granting of funds in the amount of 10 million euro was signed by Mr. Alexander Stubb, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), and Mr. Ilmārs Osmanis, Chairman of the Board of HansaMatrix. EIB granted the long-term loan to support investments in the development planned by the group companies in 2018–2020 accounting for 20 million euro in total. Reportedly, the granted loan is intended to be used for the support of the current development strategy of the group of companies HansaMatrix, providing for switching from manufacture to provision of full range of services, including designing, engineering and post-sale services with added value.

Ventspils – city of high technologies

Mr. Ilmārs Osmanis: “Nearly two thirds of the investments we are planning to invest in the companies of HansaMatrix group are intended for Ventspils. We are planning to invest 3.55 million of the 10-million loan granted by the European Investment Bank in the building of capacity and new technological processes in the factory of the LLC (SIA) HansaMatrix Ventspils and 2.5 million euro – in the technological process of the factory of the LLC (SIA) EuroLCDs, which is also partially owned by the HansaMatrix group of companies. Total amount of investments in both companies will exceed 6 million euro. Absorption of investments will be commenced in December this year. Such considerable investments in the companies of Ventspils mean that it more and more becomes the city of high technologies.”

HansaMatrix reaches record-high turnover

HansaMatrix is a high technology company, which evolves rapidly and develops new electronic products and systems, provides industrialisation thereof, as well as provides integrated manufacturing services. During the period of 15 years, the group of companies has grown to become one of the leading companies in the region of Baltics and Nordic countries. The group of companies employs several teams of engineers, and the total number of employees of two companies located in Ogre and Ventspils reaches approximately 350, including sub-contractors.

In the first nine months of this year, the group of companies has reached record-high turnover – 16.09 million euro, representing 11% over the indicator of equal period last year.

Appreciated support and infrastructure provided by the Freeport of Ventspils Authority

Our companies are located on suitable industrial premises in Ventspils High Technology Park in the industrial territory of the Freeport of Ventspils and provided with the necessary infrastructure, furthermore, we have been offered favourable lease conditions. HansaMatrix stays in Ventspils and continues development of its capacities here,” the situation was acknowledged by I. Osmanis.

New employees for the company are being prepared right here, in Ventspils!

I. Osmanis: “The company HansaMatrix Ventspils currently employs more than 200 people. We are planning to double this number in the more distant future, while we are expecting gradual growth in the number of employees in the nearest perspective – by 10–20% annually. We partially satisfy the necessity for specialists at the expense of the graduates prepared by the local educational institutions – we hire practically all electronics technicians and part of the specialists of business administration. We invite specialists of more specific profiles – chemists and material controllers – from other regions and train them on the spot. We are planning to increase the volume of manufacture by 20% annually for the next five years. And the factory EuroLCDs will also need several additional engineers.”
