The cruise ship Albatros at the port of Ventspils

On 3 June, the cruise ship Albatros arrived at the port of Ventspils with more than 800 passengers. It was its first time visiting Ventspils.

The 205-metre-long cruise ship Albatros, sailing under the flag of the Bahama Islands was built in 1973, but has since overgone various serious modifications to adjust to the highest standards. There is accommodation necessary for more than 800 passengers and a crew consisting of 340 people on the ship. It has 8 passenger floors with 420 cabins, various restaurants and bars, sports and entertainment activities.

Infrastructure sufficient for large ship handling services

The Freeport of Ventspils Authority has built the infrastructure necessary for receiving the largest ships that can enter the Baltic Sea, which mostly concerns the bulk cargo and liquid cargo segment, however, investments into building infrastructure necessary for passenger service has proven to be equally important.

Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals rents the universal terminal which is suitable not only for different types of loads, but also for ferries, from the Freeport of Ventspils Authority, and it has started operating in attracting cruise ships.

On 21 June, the cruise ship Amadea will arrive in Ventspils — its first time visiting Ventspils was in August last year. As reported before, last year three cruise ships arrived at the Freeport of Ventspils, among which the most impressive one was the cruise ship Seaborn Ovation
