The grain terminal has become versatile

After its modernisation, the Ventspils Grain Terminal, which has been operating in the Freeport of Ventspils for 12 years, has not only significantly increased its capacity but can now also handle and transfer a much larger range of agricultural products.

"With the completion of the project, our specialised grain terminal has turned into a versatile transshipment terminal that can be used for transferring any type of agricultural product on both sea and land," said Vladislavs Šafranskis, Chairman of the Board of Ventspils Grain Terminal (VGT). The grain terminal is already receiving new cargo this week, as cargo of sugar beet pulp is on its way to Ventspils.

The official opening of the new modernised infrastructure took place last Friday at the grain terminal. It includes a two-section warehouse of more than 5500 m2, where 30,000 tonnes of agricultural products can be stored, as well as a 15 metre building for carrying out loading and unloading operations using modern technological equipment that allows cargo to be loaded onto transport on both sea and land.
