The management of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Latvia visits Ventspils

On 5 September the management of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Latvia — Sun Yinglai, the Chargé d'affaires, Shen Xiaokai, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor, and Lu Junyan, the Commercial Attaché — visited Ventspils.

The visit of the embassy representatives started at the office of the Freeport of Ventspils Authority, where the guests discussed the current and potential main future cooperation areas with Didzis Ošenieks, the Deputy Chairman of Ventspils City Council, and Imants Sarmulis, the Chief Executive Officer of the Freeport of Ventspils. On this occasion special attention was focused on the tourism products in Ventspils, since the number of Chinese tourists in Latvia is growing significantly, as the embassy representatives stressed.

As part of the visit, the guests visited Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals, the chocolate factory Pobeda Confectionery, the Ventspils High Technology Park, the heating system manufacturer Wasserkabel Baltic as well as the new concert hall Latvija.

China is one of the cooperation destinations defined a priority on a national level for industry development and in various sectors, including the transport and logistics industry. The Freeport of Ventspils can offer China the most efficient transport corridor for the export of Chinese goods into Scandinavia, as well as premises for the development of logistics and industrial projects.
