The buoys of the Port of Ventspils are becoming more up-to-date

At the end of the year, the project „Development of Transport and Port Communication Systems” (Trans-Port), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, is winding up. Within the framework of the project, a number of activities aimed at the improvement of the Port of Ventspils communication systems were carried out, and as a result, a part of navigation buoys in the Port of Ventspils and adjacent waters are being equipped with an automatic identification system (AIS).

Cargo turnover in November increased for 23%

In November 2011 cargo turnover in Freeport of Ventspils was 23%  more than during November last year. After 11 months of 2011 Freeport of Ventspils handled 26 million tons of cargo, which is  14% more than over the same period last year. 

Cargo turnover at the Port of Ventspils has increased by 6%

In the first seven months of 2011 Ventspils Port handled 16.613 million tons of cargo, which is  6% more than over the same period last year. In July the cargo turnover of the port amounted to 2.132 million tons.  

Minister of Communist Party of Chinese People’s Republic will recommend Ventspils to chinese businessmen

The Minister of Communist Party of Chinese Peoples’s Republic, head of International Relations Department Mr. Van Dzjazuj after the meeting with Ventspils City Council and Freeport Management and  acquaintance with advantages of Ventspils Freeport adjudged,

that has gained a good impression of Ventspils as an attractive city and port for investors.  The high officer of Chinese People’s Republic promised to recommend Ventspils as an attractive place for business.
Chairman of Ventspils City Council and Free Port of Ventspils Authority Mr. Aivars Lembergs welcoming Chinese delegation in Ventspils Freeport, acknowledged Ventspils city’s great interest in cooperation with China, informing that Ventspils freeport already has cooperation agreements with two Chinese ports. The guests were acquainted with activities and advantages of Ventspils Freeport, which could be used by Chinese investors.
The guests showed great interest in the tax system of  special economic zone and investment policy, and also expressed the view, that the business inviroment appears very good.
