Port and Pollution Protection Service
The Port and Pollution Protection Service carries out daily inspections of the facilities of the Freeport of Ventspils Authority, assesses and monitors the port infrastructure, the technical condition of the existing equipment, detects non-conformities and informs the responsible services. The Port and Pollution Protection Service is also responsible for monitoring the cleanliness and safety of the port area. One of the tasks of the service is to remove unforeseen pollution in the port area, to collect oil-containing products in the event of an unforeseen spill and to collect floating objects that impede the safe navigation of the port area. The Service has five specialised floating vessels and the necessary technical equipment to carry out this work.
