The buoys of the Port of Ventspils are becoming more up-to-date
At the end of the year, the project „Development of Transport and Port Communication Systems” (Trans-Port), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, is winding up. Within the framework of the project, a number of activities aimed at the improvement of the Port of Ventspils communication systems were carried out, and as a result, a part of navigation buoys in the Port of Ventspils and adjacent waters are being equipped with an automatic identification system (AIS).
Cargo turnover in November increased for 23%
In November 2011 cargo turnover in Freeport of Ventspils was 23% more than during November last year. After 11 months of 2011 Freeport of Ventspils handled 26 million tons of cargo, which is 14% more than over the same period last year.
Cargo turnover at the Port of Ventspils has increased by 6%
In the first seven months of 2011 Ventspils Port handled 16.613 million tons of cargo, which is 6% more than over the same period last year. In July the cargo turnover of the port amounted to 2.132 million tons.

Succeeded to establish production in Ventspils and execute the first order only for four months. It was gas and smoke purification equipment, which was made for the Danish order.Chairman of the Board of SIA Valmiera Andren Mr. Gints Briedis appreciated the organization of work at the port of Ventspils,sending a cargo complex and in cooperation with port services. Immediately after the first order-Ventspils Andren was next- reservoirs (diameter - 6 meters) for Russia. This order was successful, but fabricated tanks arrived in the Urals, in September. The company produced two further orders until the end of year - for Norway and Sweden - but now prepares to carry out two new orders to Finland and Sweden.
This production site is unique, because the finished product market is changing every year and there are no two similar orders. ” "Sometimes we also do not know to whom will be provided equipment ordered at us. When the order is made, it is important to deliver the cargo at the port, NNVT terminal, where bulky goods are loaded on board and sent to the customer. Interesting, that Ventspils-Andren has made a reservation for a new building on Rupniecibas Street. Reconstructed bridge, which is now overhead, and the upcoming building of new dry cargo terminal between the two bridges on the right bank of the Venta creates all preconditions for implementation of these plans. "When we shall build the factory on Rupniecibas Street, then we can produce products which no one and never has not yet produced in Latvia!" says Mr. Miller.
