Board

The board is the highest decision-making body at the Freeport Authority, which supervises the administration led by the CEO of Ventspils Freeport. According to the Law on Ports and the principle of parity, the Freeport of Ventspils has eight board members – four representatives from Ventspils local government, who shall be appointed to and removed from office with the decision of Ventspils City Council, and four representatives nominated by the ministries of Economics, Finance, Transport and Environmental Protection and Regional Development, appointed to and removed from office by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia.

Professional experience:
Since 1988 – Chairman of Ventspils City Council; 
Since 1994 – Chairman of Board of the Freeport of Ventspils and President and Chairman of Board of the Transit Business Association of Latvia.
Most significant competencies – development of Latvia and Ventspils, political framework, economy, budget, finance, tax policy.
Awards: The Grand Award of Ventspils City Council, The Order of Three Stars, Third Class, and the Honorary Title of 3rd International Competition Person of the Year in Transport 1998.

Born in 1954
Education: Riga School of Economics, master’s qualification in business management, Riga Polytechnic Institute, construction engineer qualification.
Professional experience:
Since 1989 has worked for local municipality company – Dzīvokļu komunālā pārvalde
Since 1996 – Deputy Chairman of Ventspils City Council;
Since 1996 – Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Freeport of Ventspils.
Awards: The Award of Ventspils City Council and The Grand Award of Ventspils City Council, State Highest Award – The Cross of Recognition.

From 1997 until 2006 – Deputy Chairman of Ventspils City Council;

Since 2009 Deputy Chairman of Ventspils City Council;
From 1999 until 2006 and since 2009 – Board Member of the Freeport of Ventspils.
