Filming and Photography in the Port Area
In the Ventspils port, there are designated flight restriction zones (UAS VBP 1 and 2), which include both public areas and restricted zones, including terminals, port structures, and industrial production areas.
When filming and photographing with an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), the relevant national regulations must be followed, which include obtaining a flight permit from the Civil Aviation Agency and coordinating the planned flight with the Ventspils Freeport Authority.

VBP UAS Geographical Zones "UAS VBP 01" and "UAS VBP 02"
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for filming and photography within the Ventspils Freeport areas is permitted only after coordination with the Ventspils Freeport Authority.
To obtain approval for a drone flight, an application must be submitted through the Civil Aviation Agency’s Unmanned Aircraft Information System at www.e.caa.gov.lv at least two (2) working days before the planned flight.
For any questions or clarifications, please contact the Port Security Officer, Jānis Krūmiņš, by email at [email protected] or by phone at +371 29258800 or +371 29161007.
It should be reminded that drones may only be piloted by trained personnel, in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 248 "Rules for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Flights." Additionally, it is important to remember the data protection law, which stipulates that filming and photographing third parties without their consent is prohibited.
When conducting a drone flight, the pilot must adhere to the conditions and restrictions set within the specific unmanned aircraft system (UAS) geographical zone, which are available on the website of the State Joint Stock Company "Latvijas gaisa satiksme" at www.airspace.lv/drones.
