The production building No. 6 of the Ventspils High Technology Park, located in the industrial zone of the Freeport of Ventspils, has been put into operation, and a lease agreement has been signed with Co., FORPET BALTIC SIA utilizing the establishment for production purposes. The factory is creating environmentally friendly packaging alternatives using the technology of multiple recycling plastics, thus extending the life cycle of the already-made plastic. The Freeport of Ventspils has already put the new plant into service as its twelfth manufacturing unit in the industrial zone.

The 6400 m2 large production establishment, consisting of 4800 m2 large production premises, a modern office, and a part of auxiliary premises, has undergone several modifications during its construction to make the facility universal and attractive to the future lessee. Currently, the industrial territory of the Freeport of Ventspils is richer for another socially responsible, resourceful, and sustainably-thinking company, making the port city particularly appealing for the expansion of other contemporary companies.

Production building No. 6 is rented by the Co., FORPET BALTIC SIA, and it produces innovative coffee cups, caps, and other containers from recycled plastic. The factory stands out in terms of technological solution – using the patented Austrian technology New Generations Recycling, which is employed to make packaging materials, it is possible to recycle the packages an unlimited number of times. The company’s initial investments reached 16 million euros, but in total more than 34 million euros are planned to be invested in production in the first four years. In the fifth year of production, sales volumes of 1800 million lids, 360 million cups, and 10 000 tons of rPET film are anticipated, with the products exported to the EU and other international markets.

Ready-made production establishments with spacious and modern production premises, offered to producers at a competitive rent, are one of the advantages presented by Ventspils to both Latvian and foreign investors and entrepreneurs. In addition, advanced technological solutions have also allowed Ventspils to rank among the historical flagships of Latvian industry.

To expand the industrial territory of the freeport, since 2005, 12 production buildings worth more than 50 million euros have been constructed in Ventspils by order of the Freeport of Ventspils. These facilities have generated about one thousand new jobs.
