Extensive representation of the Freeport of Ventspils on a business visit to Kazakhstan

This week, a delegation of Latvian businessmen went to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, to discuss future collaboration with Kazakh businessmen in an intensive business visit program “Latvia–Kazakhstan: new prospects for cooperation”.

The Freeport of Ventspils was broadly represented in the visit – both by the Deputy CEO and Head of Marketing and Development of the Freeport of Ventspils, Igors Udodovs, and also from most of the port’s terminals – because Kazakhstan is currently one of the most significant alliance partners of Ventspils.

In just a few weeks, the international transport and logistics exhibition “Transkazakhstan 2023”, which is presently one of the prominent transport and logistics events in the Central Asian region, will begin in Astana. Vast participation of Ventspils companies under the unifying Latvian transport and logistics sector brand “VIA LATVIA” is also planned for this event.

Cargo originating in Kazakhstan currently accounts for approximately 20% of all freight in Ventspils port. It is already a substantial amount, but entrepreneurs of both countries see opportunities for new projects, which are incredibly important in the current economic and geopolitical situation.

The business visit “Latvia–Kazakhstan: new prospects for cooperation” is organized by the Baltic-Kazakhstan Economic Development Association in partnership with the embassies of both countries.
