Today, on April 18, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in Ventspils between the Freeport of Ventspils Authority and the Ukrainian state enterprise “Commercial Sea Port "Chornomorsk".” The memorandum was signed by Mr. Igors Udodovs, Deputy CEO and Head of the Marketing and Development Department of the Freeport of Ventspils Authority, and Mr. Pavlo Podolian, Deputy Director for Economics of the Port of Chornomorsk.

The memorandum aims to promote cooperation between the two ports by planning and developing future transport and logistics flows, while also strengthening friendly economic relations that support mutual development. The cooperation will include the exchange of experience in cargo handling and safety, joint planning of transport and logistics projects, implementation of sustainable solutions, staff training, and participation in international projects. The parties agreed to hold regular working meetings and share information on developments in the sector.

The memorandum enters into force upon signing and will remain valid for four years, with the possibility of extension upon mutual agreement.

The Port of Chornomorsk is one of Ukraine’s most important Black Sea ports, located near Odesa. Despite the challenges posed by Russia’s invasion, the port continues to operate and develop. It is a universal port handling various types of cargo, including containers and bulk cargo, and is the only port in Ukraine suitable for ferry operations. Chornomorsk is a strategically significant logistics hub that, even under wartime conditions, continues to ensure Ukraine’s connectivity with global markets and supports regional cooperation.
