Last week, at the BOWEH2 project seminar in Vilnius, Kaspars Liepiņš, the developer of the renewable energy cluster of the Ventspils Freeport Authority, presented the Ventspils Freeport's vision of the port as a green energy and hydrogen technology center.

The full name of the BOWEH2 project is Baltic Offshore Wind Energy to Hydrogen and as the name suggests, the project creates a link between national and local government authorities, policy makers, researchers, manufacturers and other experts to jointly create a roadmap for a joint offshore wind and hydrogen energy system in the region.

As part of the event, representatives from the Latvian Ministry of Climate and Energy and the LIAA Elwind project gave presentations on Latvia's green energy and hydrogen perspective and the current affairs of the offshore wind farm Elwind project.

"It was extremely valuable to get acquainted with Lithuania's ambitious and bold plans and goals in the development of hydrogen economy and green energy, which were announced by the representative of the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania, as well as with the Lithuanian offshore wind farm development program. The presentation of the Lithuanian state energy company Ignitis provided an opportunity to get acquainted with its vision for the development of green energy and hydrogen production throughout the Baltic region and Ignitis' plans in this sector. Representatives of Amber Grid and Litgrid told about the development of Lithuanian gas and electricity transmission networks and their readiness for green energy and hydrogen projects," says K. Liepiņš.
