On May 11, along with the opening of the summer tourism and cycling season in Ventspils, the excursion boat “Hercogs Jēkabs”, operated by the Freeport of Ventspils Authority, will also start this year’s season. As usual, this year too, the boat will offer both the locals and the city’s guests the chance to enjoy various views of the port city from the bridge “Apvedtilts” to the sea gateway.
“Hercogs Jēkabs” is one of the city’s most well-known tourist destinations. From May to September, it departs 5-7 times daily from pier No. 18 at the intersection of the streets Tirgus and Ostas. The 45-minute tour offers guests a unique perspective on Ventspils, with the possibility of looking at the sea gateway, the old town, the mouth of the Venta River, and the industrial area of the Freeport of Ventspils.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office next to the pier. Children under the age of 10 are permitted on the boat only accompanied by an adult. The Freeport of Ventspils Authority kindly reminds that the schedule may be changed, and voyages may be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances or low visibility.
The pleasure boat “Hercogs Jēkabs” has been operating in Ventspils since 1995.
