This week in Husum, Germany, one of the most important exhibitions for the German market dedicated to renewable energy - “Husum Wind 2023. Transforming energy” is taking place. Representatives of the Freeport of Ventspils also take part in the exhibition.
Within the framework of the exhibition, several B2B meetings were held with representatives of the industry, including inventors and manufacturers of components essential for the industry. Thanks to the location of Ventspils port, logistics possibilities, and development plans, representatives of the industry see Ventspils as the center of the Baltic region for offshore wind farm construction and assistance companies.
As part of the exhibition, there was also a meeting with Ilze Upatniece, Deputy Head of Latvia’s Foreign Economic Representative Office in Germany of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. Moreover, there was a visit to the “GP Joule” factory and a meeting with company representatives. “GP Joule” in Husum supplies a hydrogen-powered public bus that runs daily between two cities. Hydrogen is produced from wind energy harvested just around the city, and it is only one example of how renewable energy can be practiced in the transportation industry.
The Freeport of Ventspils engages in the exhibition at the stand organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia together with the energy firm “Jauda” and “Novikontas Maritime College”. In total, 600 companies from more than 15 countries currently partake in the exhibition.
