The visit of Pudong New Area's delegation to Ventspils

On 18 June, a delegation from Pudong New Area in China visited Ventspils. The main purpose of the visit was to sign a new memorandum of understanding, by including cooperation terms regarding the education sector in it as well.

The visit began at the office of the Ventspils Freeport Authority, where Jānis Vītoliņš, First Deputy Chairman of the Ventspils City Council for Infrastructure Affairs, and Igors Udodovs, Deputy Executive Officer of the Freeport of Ventspils, introduced the guests with the business development and economic cooperation opportunities in Ventspils.

The guests were interested in the tax incentives of the Special Economic Zone of the Ventspils Freeport, the available offer for investors and the development indicators of the city. The opportunities provided by the industrial zones, the work completed so far in attracting investors and the improved urban environment were commended by the guests.

After that, the chief representatives of the Pudong delegation and the management of the Ventspils City Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Livonian Order Castle, by also including cooperation terms regarding the education field in the document. The current memorandum of understanding was signed in 2016 with a duration of 3 years. It lays out the terms regarding collaboration in the sectors of economy, sales, culture and research.

The Pudong New Area is an important business and trade centre in Shanghai, the largest city in China.
