Last week, the delegation of Ventspils Freeport authority participated in an event devoted to investment attraction “Invest in” in Shanghai, China, to inform about the opportunities of industrial development in China.
“Invest in” is a forum for special economic zones in which more than 300 representatives of private and state enterprises of China participated in with an aim to find an opportunity to expand their economic activities abroad. Prominent enterprises from Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, and several African countries also participated in this forum and were seeking economic partners in China. Ventspils Freeport was the only participant of the forum from the Baltic Sea region and participated in for the third time.
When meeting with the representatives of Ventspils Freeport Authority, Chinese companies showed interest in cooperating with manufacturing enterprises of European Union, in Ventspils as a possible logistics point for freight transit, as well as in the benefits Ventspils offers in launching a new business.
The development of Ventspils Freeport industrial area is one of the main objectives of Ventspils Freeport Authority. Currently, besides the existing premises, more than 500 ha are intended for the implementation of new industrial projects.
