Exploring the United Kingdom's experience in the development of wind energy services
Ventspils is geographically especially well suited for servicing offshore wind farms, therefore, Freeport of Ventspils Authority has started a targeted work so that Ventspils Port can make a significant contribution to the development of renewable energy. This week market research analyst Marcis Neliuss together with other representatives from Estonian and Latvian off-shore wind industry is taking part in the Roadshow Mission to the UK.
Renewable energy park service centre planned in Ventspils Northern Port
This year, development of a study on the best solution for servicing offshore wind farms and related infrastructure in the Port of Ventspils is planned, which will also include modelling of a new terminal in the Ventspils Northern Port. This is one of the steps in a long-term strategy to develop a renewable energy production and maintenance service in the Port of Ventspils.
Contract has been signed regarding the removal of historical pollution with oil contamination in Ventspils
Contract has been concluded between Freeport of Ventspils Authority and JSC “VentEko” concerning the remediation activities in polluted area – reduction of floating oil contamination and instalment of filtering-purifying barrier system preventing the transport of contamination to the coast of the Baltic Sea.
2022 ā the best year for ferry traffic in the history of the Freeport of Ventspils Authority
In 2022 the new ferry traffic records are set in the history of the Freeport of Ventspils Authority. Pre-pandemic statistics have not only been reached, but surpassed. During 12 years, the volume of Ro-Ro cargo in the Freeport of Ventspils has increased almost 200 times.
Freeport of Ventspils increased cargo turnover by 33% in 2022
In 2022, the terminals operating in the Freeport of Ventspils handled a total of 14.8 million tonnes, an increase of 33%. Record volumes were achieved in the Ro-Ro cargo group and in the development of new cargo routes, which has enabled the Freeport of Ventspils Authority to continue with ongoing development projects and launch new initiatives.
In 11 months the cargo turnover has increased by 32%
During the 11 months of year 2022, the terminals operating in the Ventspils Freeport handled a total of 13.3 million tons, which is 32% more than last year.
Freeport of Ventspils participates in an international fair in Turkey
During the period from 16 to 18 November, the Freeport of Ventspils, as well as other representatives of Latvian transit and logistics participate in an international fair "LogitransTurkey 2022" in Istanbul, Turkey.
Cooperation with Uzbekistan develops

On 24 August, laureates of the display Best Structure of the Year in Latvia were announced. In the nomination “Engineering Structure”, 1st place was awarded for the renovation of the Ventspils Northern Pier in Ventspils.
