Yesterday, on March 5, a meeting of businessmen from Flanders and Latvia was held on opportunities for closer cooperation. The session was held in Riga and opened by the Minister-President of Flanders, Jan Jambon.

Last week, at the BOWEH2 project seminar in Vilnius, Kaspars Liepiņš, the developer of the renewable energy cluster of the Ventspils Freeport Authority, presented the Ventspils Freeport's vision of the port as a green energy and hydrogen technology center.

Among the laureates of the Export and Innovation Award in 2023, the company “MALMAR SHEET METAL” SIA, operating in the industrial zone of the Ventspils Freeport, received the award in the “Leader in Export Growth” category in the “Smart Energy and Mobility” sector.

The production building No. 6 of the Ventspils High Technology Park, located in the industrial zone of the Freeport of Ventspils, has been put into operation, and a lease agreement has been signed with Co., FORPET BALTIC SIA utilizing the establishment for production purposes. The factory is creating environmentally friendly packaging alternatives using the technology of multiple recycling plastics, thus extending the life cycle of the already-made plastic. The Freeport of Ventspils has already put the new plant into service as its twelfth manufacturing unit in the industrial zone.

The Freeport of Ventspils holds the procedure – auction for granting the lease right for premises (483.7 m2) in the building located at Ventspils High technology park 5 in Ventspils and for the adjacent territory (760 m2) with the designation “Ventspils Augsto tehnoloģiju parks 5”.

The Freeport of Ventspils has signed an agreement with "PurpleGreen Energy C" Ltd. to start research work for the construction of a green hydrogen factory in Ventspils. Green hydrogen will play an extremely important role in the future as a source of sustainable energy production, which is why it is called the "green revolution" in the world. The implementation of the project will be an important step in the development of the renewable energy cluster in the region of the Northern Kurzeme. This will open up prospects for both research and the expansion of other business projects in the future, where the use of future energy will be essential.

Representatives of the Freeport of Ventspils are participating in the 19th International Transport and Logistics Exhibition "TransLogistica Uzbekistan 2023" this week.

This week, “Global Smart Ports 2023” was held in Hamburg, Germany, bringing together experts from ports and other maritime-related organizations from around the world to exchange thoughts and experiences regarding the future directions of modern port development. Igors Udodovs, The Deputy CEO of the Freeport of Ventspils, Head of Marketing and Development Department, took part in the summit panel debate about future changes in shipping.

This week in Husum, Germany, one of the most important exhibitions for the German market dedicated to renewable energy - “Husum Wind 2023. Transforming energy” is taking place. Representatives of the Freeport of Ventspils also take part in the exhibition.

The media members are invited to participate in the project’s press briefing devoted to the progress of remediation activities of historically polluted area within the scope of one of the biggest environment-related projects in the region. The event will take place on September 21, at 12 PM in the premises of foundation “Ventspils High Technology Park”.
