The Administration of the Freeport of Ventspils has signed agreement with SIA “Aquatoria V” for the acquisition of construction rights on the land plot in Ventspils, Talsu street 200. The company plans to build a new, modern fish compound feed production and processing plant in this territory.

On 5 September the management of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Latvia — Sun Yinglai, the Chargé d'affaires, Shen Xiaokai, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor, and Lu Junyan, the Commercial Attaché — visited Ventspils.

In 2018, the total volume of cargoes transhipped by the terminals working at the Freeport of Ventspils has exceeded 20 million tons for the second year in a row. Indicators of the aforementioned year represent 1% over the volume of 2017 and 8% over the volume of 2016.

Next year will commence in the Freeport of Ventspils with the all-time most extensive renovation of the port’s largest hydrostructure – Northern Pier, which is planned to last for nearly two years and which will be executed by the JSC (AS) BMGS.

For the purpose of partial compensation for the costs caused by the inflation, the Board of the Freeport of Ventspils has decided to increase on average by 8% port fees and service fees at the Port of Ventspils. Even after the changes to become effective as of 1 January 2019, fees of the Port of Ventspils will still be the lowest on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, thus providing the most competitive conditions for the private companies for operation at the Port of Ventspils.

During this week Ventspils Freeport Authority is participating in the 22^nd international transport and logistics exhibition TransKazhstan/TransLogistica 2018, which takes place in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

In the middle of next year, Ventspils High Technology Park infrastructure will be complemented by two new public parking lots with 133 parking spots. This is based on the agreement concluded between Ventspils Freeport Authority and Central Finance and Contracting Agency on the implementation of the project for reconstruction of Pārventa district.

Last week, the delegation of Ventspils Freeport authority participated in an event devoted to investment attraction “Invest in” in Shanghai, China, to inform about the opportunities of industrial development in China.

The chargé d’affaires of the Republic of Korea in Latvia Seong-Jin Han visited Ventspils Freeport Authority. He and his councillor met with the representatives of the city council and the Freeport Authority in order to get acquainted with the city of Ventspils, the port and its offer to investors, as well as to talk about the possible cooperation with Korea.

At the end of last week, 30 August, Ventspils Freeport Authority hosted a journalist form China National Radio (CNR) to become acquainted with Ventspils port and its cooperation with China as a part of One Belt One Road initiative.
