On June 13, the delegacy of Saaremaa municipality and mayor Madis Kallas arrived in Ventspils Freeport Authority to discuss the progress made in restoring the ferry traffic and to agree on the further actions with the representatives of Ventspils municipality and Freeport. Both sides are willing to restore ferry service in the 2019 tourism season.

Ventspils Freeport has implemented new requirements for businesses that are carrying out cargo operations with petroleum and chemical products. Ventspils Freeport has taken a major step forward in protecting the environment and moving closer to the largest European ports.

The SIA Bio-Venta which is operating in the territory of Ventspils Freeport is the biggest biofuel production and transhipment complex in Baltics, and this year they significantly increased their production volume, comparing to last year. The company hopes that this tendency will remain in the future.

Ventspils confectionery Pobeda opened a new assembly line where the popular chocolate-waffle candies Lāču ģimene, Axiome with chocolate - nut filling as well as the aerated chocolate will be produced. More than two million euro has been invested in the development of the assembly line, with total investment extent in the fixed assets of the SIA Pobeda Confectionery for more than 10 million euro.

Last week, from 16 to 18 May, Ventspils Freeport Authority participated in one of the most significant events of Asian transport and logistics industry – the exhibition Transport & Logistic China 2018 which took place in Shanghai, China.

Although Kurekss Ltd. does not operate in the territory of the Ventspils Freeport and is not even located in Ventspils, it is one of the main customers of the port terminals dealing with the transportation of timber. The company admits that the cooperation is also very beneficial to them.

The largest exhibition for transport and logistics services and technologies in Russia and former CIS countries TransRussia 2018 was held in Moscow between April 17 and 19. The delegation of Ventspils Freeport Authority and the representatives of the terminals operating in Ventspils also participated in this event.

On Tuesday 10 April, during the Latvia-Central Asia business forum, Ventspils hosted a delegation of entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
